You Should Write Your Own Sales Copy (at least once)
I’ve seen a few online thought leaders tell their students that they should write their own sales copy. Even if they don’t particularly identify as a writer.
“Yes,” I say.
One thousand times “yes!”
There is so much utility in the exercise of communicating what you do to your ideal customer in your own words. Keep it simple. The polish comes later.
Just today, a colleague of mine was writing copy for an offer to attract new coaching clients.
She opened up a feedback loop inside our private mastermind and several of us jumped in, reviewed what she had written, and identified the gap in her copy. A simple (but significant) issue that could have cost her sign ups as well as the opportunity to serve those potential clients.
A good sales message needs the right words in the right order to trigger the desired response from the customer.
Going through the process of writing a piece of your own sales copy - and then getting some feedback - will help you polish your message even if you eventually hire out the copywriting.
I can help you communicate with customers more effectively.
